What is Chiropractic?

Chiropractic is often thought of as "bone cracking" or "bone crunching".
This is NOT the case.

Chiropractic returns the body to balance through adjustments of the spine and joints, normalizing joint motion, reducing nerve interference, relieving stress and restoring normal body function.

Chiropractors influence the body's nervous system and natural defence mechanisms in order to alleviate pain and improve general health. Because of its effectiveness in treating back problems, headaches, babies, children and general health care, chiropractic has become the second largest primary health care field in the world.

What is Applied Kinesiology (AK)?

Applied Kinesiology is a postgraduate course offered to registered health care professionals.

AK is a chiropractic diagnostic technique based on the theory the neuromuscular system can be accessed through specific neuromuscular pressure points. This is usually combined with manual muscle testing to determine which muscles are weak and need to be balanced.

Applied Kinesiology focuses on the relationship of muscle strength and energy flow. The theory is that if muscles are strong, then circulation and other vital functions are also strong.

Do I need a referral?

No. You do not need a referral for Chiropractic care. Our clinic is largely built on word of mouth referrals. However, we also get referrals from Podiatrists, Naturopaths, Homeopaths, Massage Therapists and some Physiotherapists.

Do I Need X Rays?

You may or may not need an x ray. This depends on the individual patients' history.

If you are an Australian Citizen and hold a current medicare care your spinal x rays can be bulk billed. You are allowed one full set of spinal x rays per year. Peripheral x rays (shoulder, knee, ankle etc) are not bulk billed if requested by a Chiropractor.

Is Chiropractic Care covered by Private Health Fund?

At Transformation Chiropractic we provide HICAPS which allows you to swipe your private health fund card and pay the difference.

Chiropractic Care is covered by most private health funds. The amount you claim depends on your private health fund policy.

Is Chiropractic care covered by Medicare?

Chiropractic care is not covered by Medicare. However, if you or your child has been approved by your GP for an EPC (Enhanced Primary Care) program a portion of you consultation fee can be reimbursed through Medicare for up to 5 sessions. In this case you are required to pay for your consultation in full and then be reimbursed through Medicare.
